        Ideally then, skincare products or ingredients that impart,induce, or maintain a lamellar gel state will be most beneficial.

    This is the role that KY-MAC plays in

    formulations. KY-MAC and palmitic acid form a highly. ordered lamellar gel that  is

    analogous to the lipid barrier in healthy skin and that can deplicate in-vitro the effect of the more expensive and complex combination of cholesterol and ceramide-2.
